After cattle grazing, a dry summer with no vegetation growth, Tumey has very little fire fuel. And when explosive targets are prohibited, when steel core ammo is prohibited, when solid copper ammo is prohibited, when only copper jacketed lead or lead ammo is used there is no chance of fire ignition as the USFS Study proves.
The following images were taken on 10/25/2019 ten days after Tumey should have been opened to target shooting but was not. They show a great deal of barren land which is the result of livestock grazing and a dry summer when nothing grows.
Tumey is FIRE SAFE!!!
